electrical engineering

The Department of Electrical Engineering, Urmia University of Technology, started its undergraduate business in electronic field in 2008 and is now working in undergraduate programs in telecommunication, control, and mechatronics. Since the major mission of the industrial universities is to train experts with high scientific and industrial potential and, on the other hand, to communicate with the body of the industry to meet the engineering needs. Therefore, this department aims to educate graduates with a high academic and practical vision. And, using the experience and knowledge of full-time faculty members, they try to solve problems in the industry in various ways.

This department receives 30 undergraduate students per year and 30 undergraduate students in optics and laser applications. It is hoped that with the increase of the faculty members in different fields and trends and in the light of the efforts of experts and trust in Allah Almighty, in near future, we would see the flourishing of this department in all its tendencies.

Electrical engineering after the invention of the transistor (the largest invention of the 20th century) was recognized as the main field of engineering in the advancement of science and technology in the 1940s. Today, this field of engineering has various trends, including electronics, telecommunications, control and power, but with the advent of technology and the specialization of applications, new disciplines such as medical engineering, mechatronics, optics engineering, micro machine engineering, electronic warfare, etc. have been created That day by day are developing. These tendencies and their sub-trends are on the rise as electrical engineering or entering other disciplines such as medicine, pharmacy, stock exchange, mechanics, civil engineering, mining, etc., is trying to solve existing problems so that it can serve the best responses for Specialists in the field.

The field of electrical engineering has a very wide range of applications: from power generation to power plants and from distribution to day-to-day devices such as mobile phones, receivers, radio and television transmitters, and medical, military and space applications, and so on. It can be said that modern human life is in the field of electrical engineering, and every change in this field has its cultural and social consequences, which is indicative of the extraordinary importance of this field of engineering.

Introduction to the field

Electronics field

The development and growth of the electronics industry and its all-encompassing influence on human life has led the electrical engineering industry to be among the various branches of engineering. Electronic engineering involves the design and testing of electronic circuits. Undergraduate students are familiar with a range of circuits, including analog and digital circuits, and how to analyze and design them. Nowadays, with the development of integrated circuits and the creation of different branches in microelectronics and the various methods of analysis, it is easier to design and manufacture electronic systems for e-technicians, so that they are familiar with the programmable integrated circuits, such as microcontrollers, FPGAs, DSPs, and PLCs. It enables an electronics engineer to easily design and manufacture a variety of complex electronic systems.

Electronic engineering courses include electrical circuits, electronics, controls, electrical machines, telecommunications, and microprocessors. An electronic engineering expert is also familiar with how electronic circuitry is analyzed with the physical concepts of electronic components such as diode and transistor. Understanding component physics and mathematical analysis of the electronic circuits for an electronic engineer is important. In fact, what an engineer needs in order to advance his plans in his future career is to be taught, but the task of updating is on the engineer himself. Because half a lifetime of electrical engineering cycle is between 12 and 18 months, the cynical means that if an electrical engineer in his field does not study, his literacy is halved. This issue reflects the impact and importance of this field.

Introduction to optics and laser engineering

Optics is a branch of science that deals with the behavior and properties of visible light, infrared and ultraviolet light, and is used in many sciences (astronomy, engineering, medicine, photography, etc.). Due to its distinctive properties, the laser also plays a major role in increasing industrial production, the development of communication and the advancement of the printing and medical industry. In the field of optics and laser engineering students are familiar with a variety of laser and optics and their applications, laser spectroscopy (wavelength and frequency measurement), optical component manufacturing technology, and the ability to design and manufacture optical and laser equipment needed in different fields.

The knowledge of optics and laser has made many advances in recent decades. Considering the brilliant future and its ever-growing uses, it is necessary to train experts who are familiar with theoretical and practical foundations.

A bachelor's degree in optics and laser engineering is designed to teach the scientific fundamentals of optics and its application in optics, optoelectronics and laser equipment. In advanced technology, especially in the defense industry, producing, releasing and applying light, detecting it in different areas of vision, and interacting with light, is one of the important issues.

In this regard, it is highly felt for specialists who can take the necessary part in designing and calculating the construction and maintenance of optical, optoelectronic and laser equipment.
